Assemblyman Billy Jones recently announced that he secured $250,000 for the Rouses Point Civic Center and $250,000 for Scott’s Rink in Chazy to support recreation in the North Country community.
CIVIC CENTER
Jones (D-Chateaugay Lake) presented the Village of Rouses Point a $250,000 check during Northeastern Clinton Central School Boy’s Hockey last home game of the season.
The funds will go toward renovating multiple parts of the building including their snack bar.
“Opportunities for recreation in the North Country are a key priority of mine,” Jones said.
“These renovations will make the Rouses Point Civic Center safer, more accessible to the community, and allow them to continue to provide recreational activities to the local residents.”
Repairs to the chillers and dehumidifiers, updates to the bleachers and community board rooms, and a total roof repair will be prioritized.
“Thank you, Assemblyman Jones,” Rouses Point Mayor John Labonte said.
“These funds will help quite significantly with all our many ongoing projects.”
“A heartfelt gratitude to Assemblyman Jones for helping the Village of Rouses Point Civic Center in its time of need with the DASNY grant,” Chris Latremore, town clerk, said.
“We could not have done it without you and your team. THANK YOU.”
SCOTT’S RINK
Jones also presented a $250,000 check to Chazy Youth Hockey recently during one of their hockey tournaments.
“Everyone benefits when recreational opportunities are available,” said Jones.
“Scott’s Rink is a Chazy icon, and I am proud to secure funding to make sure that future generations will be able to enjoy it as well.”
This funding will go towards improvements to their refrigeration system and associated plumbing and mechanical systems, while also updating their system to be more environmentally friendly.
The parking areas and driveway will also be updated.
“On behalf of Chazy Youth Hockey and the entire community, I would like to thank Assemblyman Jones for securing funding for the Scotts’ Memorial Rink,” George Caswell, Trustee of Chazy Youth Hockey, said.
“This funding will allow us to make necessary updates to an aging facility so that we may continue to provide important recreational opportunities in the North Country.”
“Chazy Youth Hockey has flourished over several decades, bringing not only opportunities for physical activity but also fostering a sense of community, teamwork, and pride,” Craig Giroux, President of Chazy Youth Hockey, said.
“Our remarkable growth reflects a shared commitment to enriching the lives of young people while strengthening local ties by bringing families together and creating connections that span generations. Our success would not be possible without the unwavering support of the entire community and for funding opportunities like this one secured by Assemblyman Jones.”
