DANVILLE — Local pizza favorite, Jocko’s, will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants.
The ABR Roadshow is coming to visit Jocko’s in September.
Beth Haurez, who has worked for Jocko’s for over 30 years since she was a senior in high school, is looking forward to the film crew visiting the restaurant.
“Oh, it’s super exciting because I mean we’re, you know, like we’re a mom-and-pop place that’s been around for like so many years, and then they’re going to come and feature us,” Haurez said. “And it’s exciting for Vermilion County as well.”
Owners Natalie and Steve Diveley know the local favorite was built on their reputation and integrity.
“At Jocko’s, we’ve built our reputation on consistency, community, and doing things the right way for decades. To be recognized by America’s Best Restaurants is a reflection of the generations of families who have supported us and the team members who bring it to life every day and us. We’re proud to represent Danville and share our story,” Natalie Diveley said.
Haurez said working for the Diveleys has been a treasure.
“They’re just great people to work for. I mean, you couldn’t ask for better people,” Haurez said. “They just care. I don’t know. It’s just yes, and it’s a it’s in the community, so you know. And they always give back. We donate all the time.”
The roadshow tour travels the country, giving the Hollywood treatment to locally-owned restaurants, making an impact on their community.
There will be on-camera interviews with Diveley. And Haurez hopes to get in on the action as well.
The restaurant was born out of an old freight house in 1972 and has been family-owned ever since.
Haurez said there is a miniature train that the kids love to see.
“The little kids get to put a quarter in the machine, and it makes the train go around the dining room up front,” she said. “The kids love that.”
And not only do they have America’s favorite pie, but a salad bar to tout as well.
“The restaurant is more than just a dining establishment; it is a continuation of Danville’s railroad history, serving the community with pride for decades,” ABR said. “Jocko’s has built strong ties with local families, many of whom have been patrons for generations. The restaurant is deeply rooted in the community, supporting local schools, charities, and events, making it a beloved fixture in Danville.”
Jocko’s, located at 305 W. Williams Street in Danville, has a menu full of fan favorites like their iconic Jocko’s Special Pizza, the Pullman Sub, and a salad bar that offers over 20 toppings.
“The Jocko’s Special is a house pizza that generations have grown up on, while the Pullman Sub pays homage to the restaurant’s train theme, stacked with meats, melted cheese, and fresh toppings,” fans say.
