Though a Tennessee Department of Transportation spokeswoman told the Chronicle last week that Sparta Hwy. bridge over the Obed River would be completed by the end of January, the bridge was still closed when the Chronicle went to press Monday. The Chronicle has reached out to TDOT but had not received a response at press time. A weekly update on roads issued last week stated, “The bridge over the Obed River on US-70 is closed for construction. A detour has been set up on Northside Drive so drivers can travel around the closure. Additionally, the left turn from Sparta Drive onto Miller Avenue has been closed for the duration of the project.” The Chronicle will keep you updated in print and at crossville-chronicle.com/.
