MOOERS FORKS — Seven individuals were apprehended by border patrol agents in Mooers Forks recently.
The U.S. Border Patrol Swanton Sector shared Tuesday on Facebook that Border Patrol Agents from the Champlain, New York, Station responded to suspicious activity near Mooers Forks on July 1.
Agents located a minivan occupied by five citizens of Iran and two citizens of Uzbekistan, the post stated.
“It was determined that all seven adult male subjects had previously illegally entered the United States at various locations along both the U.S./Mexico border and the U.S./Canada border. They are currently detained and pending removal proceedings,” the post continued. “Border security is national security and directly correlates to public safety, Swanton Sector Agents remain vigilant and committed to protecting our borders and enforcing immigration laws.”

NY-21 Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whose district includes Mooers Forks, said in a statement about the apprehensions that she has been sounding the alarm on the northern border national security crisis “due to Joe Biden and Kathy Hochul’s open border policies” for years.
“Thankfully, for the past six months, I have worked with President Trump to successfully secure the border. We are especially grateful for the hardworking border and law enforcement officials from Champlain, NY who protected our national security with the arrest of five Iranians and two Uzbeks in Mooers Forks, NY21,” Stefanik (R-Schuylerville) wrote. “This is yet another reason why the increased number of border officials we delivered in the One Big Beautiful Bill is more important than ever.”
