CUMBERLAND — The death of an inmate Saturday at the North Branch Correctional Institution is under investigation by Maryland State Police.
Police said inmate Patrick Canderloro, 38, was pronounced dead by emergency services personnel after he was found unresponsive and lying on the floor of his cell by correctional officers.
State police homicide investigators were contacted at about 6 p.m. by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Investigation Unit.
State police investigators and crime scene technicians responded to the incident.
Police said he investigation is continuing and results will be presented to the Office of the State’s Attorney for review.
