In honor of Earth Week, Ponderosa Landfill will be sponsoring a free electronics recycling option Thursday to Blue Earth County residents.
The collection is slated 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the landfill, 20028 Gooseberry Lane
Blue Earth County residents may recycle up to five electronics items. The fee for additional items is the regular disposal rate — $15 per item. Proof of residency will be requested. Business waste will not be accepted.
Examples of qualifying items include unwanted TVs, monitors, computers, tablets, laptops, fax machines, DVD players, VCRs and printers.
Peripheral electronic items such as a computer mouse, keyboards, hard drives or speakers also will be accepted and will not be counted toward the recycling limit.

Eye clinic to celebrate reopening
Carlson-Tillisch Eye Clinic, 120 N. Broad St., is organizing a grand reopening 4-6 p.m. May 1 as a way to thank the public for supporting the business during its recovery from flood damage its building suffered last summer.
Following the historic flooding that devastated the Mankato area in June, the clinic has rebuilt and reimagined its space, expanding and modernizing its services and adding new exam rooms.
“Our patients and community have stood by us through an incredibly difficult time,” Dr. Murphy Grotewold, said in a press release. “This reopening is more than just a return to business — it’s a celebration of our community’s strength and our team’s commitment to moving forward together.”
Founded in 1909, Carlson-Tillisch Eye Clinic has served Mankato and the surrounding communities for over 115 years.

Coats will attend the club’s third session slated 1 p.m. June 21.

The club membership fee is $50 and includes the cost of a paperback copy of the book, admission to the speaker, and group book discussion, refreshments and a small gift for completing the activities. Attendees who own copies of the book pay $10 per session to attend.
