A respectful solution is available to members of the public who want to dispose of torn or tattered U.S. flags. The flags may be retired during a public Flag Day event 8 p.m. Friday at Gault Park in St. Peter.
During the solemn ceremony, flags will be burned by American Legion Post 37 members. Proper flag etiquette will be demonstrated during the tradition that also serves as a tribute to the flag’s significance.
Flags in need of proper retirement may be dropped off in advance at Legion Post 37 or brought to the event Friday.
