LONDONDERRY — While some libraries bring in therapy dogs for kids to read to, Londonderry’s Leach Library has enlisted a less mammalian mascot.
Oscar the Tortoise was officially brought home to the Children’s section of the library on March 13 and had his first check up on April 1. The vet gave Oscar a clean bill of health and said the tortoise weighed 446 grams, or a little less than 1 pound.
Oscar can be visited in the children’s section during library hours, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is at 276 Mammoth Road.
