WINDHAM — The Friends of the Library of Windham are looking for young artists to help create the official poster design for this year’s Strawberry Festival.
They will hold a design workshop on Saturday, March 9, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., for children 12 and under to create a design for the poster contest at the Nesmith Library, 8 Fellows Road.
Supplies will be provided.
The winner of the contest will receive a game bracelet and dessert at the event.
All submissions will receive a voucher for a free book redeemable at the book fair.
Submissions should be turned in at the library by Friday, March 15.
Pelham Easter egg huntPELHAM — Pelham Parks and Recreation will host its annual Easter Festival on Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Village Green.
The Easter egg hunt begins at noon and is for children up to age 8. There will be thousands of candy and toy-filled eggs.
The Easter Bunny will bounce around with prizes to give out and take photos.
Local town organizations will have tables with prizes, games and treats. Pelham Police are offering a chance to win a free ride to school in a police cruiser.
A book sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library.
Book discussion in Salem
SALEM — Author Ted Reinstein will discuss his book “Before Brooklyn: The Unsung Heroes Who Helped Break Baseball’s Color Barrier” on Tuesday, March 19, at 4 p.m., at the Kelley Library, 234 Main St.
Reinstein’s latest book tells the story of the little-known heroes who fought segregation in baseball, from communist newspaper reporters to the Pullman car porters who saw to it that black newspapers espousing integration in professional sports reached the homes of blacks throughout the country.

Charity hockey game
MANCHESTER — Local New Hampshire first responders will trade their uniforms in for jerseys as they compete in the 16th annual Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Battle of the Badges on March 10 at the SNHU Arena, 555 Elm St.
The charity hockey game raises money to provide critical services for children with chronic illnesses or injuries. Funds also help support pediatric patients and their families.
Ten emergency responders from police and fire departments in Salem, Hampstead, Londonderry, Derry and Danville are represented on the two teams.
Aviation Museum open houseLONDONDERRY — The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire, 27 Navigator Road, will hold a volunteer open house on Tuesday, March 12, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Those interested can meet current volunteers and learn about the many ways to help the Aviation Museum carry out its mission.
“As a nonprofit, we depend on volunteers to carry out our mission, so everyone has the potential to make a big difference,” said Jeff Rapsis, the museum’s executive director.
“The young person who visits the Aviation Museum today could be the aerospace achiever of tomorrow, and volunteer interaction is how that happens,” Rapsis added.
