The 23rd annual Jack Beatty Memorial Hospice Cruise and Clambake is scheduled for July 11 at the Youngstown Yacht Club. The longtime fundraiser benefits Niagara Hospice, and since inception has raised more than $670,000 for the nonprofit organization.
Members of the Youngstown Yacht Club and skippers around Western New York generously donate their boats and time to take attendees up the Niagara River for a cruise. During the cruise, participants can enjoy snacks and drinks provided by the boat owners, while the Junkyard Dogs perform a live show right on the river for passing boats. Following the cruise, attendees can enjoy a clambake and buffet featuring live music by Soul Committee.
“This unique event provides a great experience for attendees while also giving back to the organization that has given so much to all of us,” cruise co-chair Paul Beatty Jr. said. “So many people in our community have benefitted from the exceptional, expert end-of-life care provided by Niagara Hospice.”
Organizers anticipate the cruise portion of this year’s event will sell out quickly, so early sign-up is encouraged. Tickets are also available for just the clambake and cookout, which will begin around 5:30 p.m.
Any interested skipper who would like to donate their boat and time to the event should call co-chair Adam Burns at 716-713-5119. Online registration, pricing information and further event details can be found at www.hospicecruiseandclambake.com.
