PLATTSBURGH — While traveling with only four swimmers for Moriah, the competition and camaraderie was high between the Hornets and Vikings.
Plattsburgh High won the meet 90-17, but all anyone could talk about was the atmosphere.
“I really want to recognize Moriah for their incredible sportsmanship,” PHS coach Randi Christodoulou said. “Despite having a small roster, their swimmers were supportive, enthusiastic and cheering for our girls throughout the meet. It was a great reminder of what high school athletics should be about. We were proud of our girls’ performances, but equally appreciative of the positive atmosphere both teams created.”
Plattsburgh’s Allie Christodoulou won the 200 freestyle (2:23.91) and 50 freestyle (29.82), while Kiley Kretser captured first in the 100 butterfly (1:20.45) and 100 freestyle (1:05.59).
Elizabeth Chase won the 100 backstroke (1:21.23), and Abby Brown took first in both the 500 freestyle (7:41.48) and 100 breaststroke (1:40.86).
Plattsburgh also captured the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
“The modified team had a strong showing as well, with several swimmers gaining valuable competitive experience and contributing to a successful evening for the program,” Randi Christodoulou said.
