The Manchester Essex cross country team traveled to Wrentham on Saturday for the annual Cape Ann League Championship meet — and the Hornets returned home with some hardware.
The boys side shined with 95 points, finishing in third place overall behind only league powers Hamilton-Wenham and Newburyport.
Isaiah Nicastro earned league all-star status with a ninth place finish in 16:49.9, setting a new personal record in the process. In addition, Jeferson Do Carmo also took home all-star honors by finishing 11th overall in 17:04.4, setting a new PR as well.
Other scorers for Manchester included Lyall Cunningham in 22nd, Gus Hall in 25th and Sean Aloi in 28th.
For the girls, which finished fifth overall with 122 points, Anna Sergi led the way with an 11th place finish in 21:08.3. Sergi’s time earned her CAL all-star accolades as well.
Also scoring for the Hornets was River Martin in 22nd, Kalin Bennett in 27th with a PR of 22:53.9, Ruby McElhenny in 33rd, and Anna Garth in 37th with a new PR of 23:53.8.
