The Fairfield Glade Community Club Board of Directors paid tribute to former member Bruce Horn for his service to the membership.
Horn, in response, said it was his “honor and privilege” to serve.
During the board’s Dec. 11 meeting at The Center, the board and management gave parting gifts to Horn and offered him the opportunity to say a few words to the community.
Horn pointed out that the community club is going through “a period of challenges,” a reference partly to the impending financial loss of previously dependable revenue from the eight timeshare associations, which are to shut down effective Dec. 31.
But he expressed confidence in the board, which he said is composed of “our neighbors, our friends,” volunteers who serve “with utmost belief in the future and the quality of this place that we live in.”
Horn pointed out that volunteers also serve on the many board committees, contributing “an incredible amount of time, talent and effort to make this place a place that we love.”
In addition, he praised “the integrity and quality of the staff and senior management team.”
“These people and the volunteers are the heart and soul of this community,” he said. “I can’t tell you how honored I am to be part of this community and to work with these people.”
Horn received a standing ovation from the board, managers and members of the audience.
Horn, who served as board treasurer, was defeated by Isaac Zuercher in September in a re-election bid to a second three-year term.
