Beverly’s Ryder Frost, a forward who spent his freshman season of college basketball at Notre Dame this past winter, announced on his Instagram page Monday that he’s transferring to George Washington University.
A 6-foot-7, 215-pound sophomore-to-be, Frost will be moving to the Atlantic 10 to play for head coach Chris Caputo and the Revolutionaires, who went 19-16 a year ago (8-10 in A10 play). It was the second straight winning season for GW.
Frost — who had announced he was entering the transfer portal in late March — did not get the playing time he had hoped for with the Fighting Irish, averaging just 6.2 minutes a night over 26 games played. He averaged 2.8 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists. He also connected on 38.5 percent of his 3-point attempts (20-for-52).
He scored in double figures four times, including a career high 15 points in his first collegiate game against Long Island University. He went 4-for-5 from behind the arc vs. both LIU and later in the season vs. Pittsburgh, scoring 12 points in a road setback to the Panthers.
Notre Dame went just 13-18 this season, including 4-14 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and missed the NCAA Tournament.
A three-point marksman who played for both Beverly High and at Phillips Exeter Academy as well as for the Middlesex Magic AAU program, Frost was a 4-star recruit and listed as one of the Top 80 recruits in the country in the high school Class of 2025. He chose Notre Dame over a number of high profile programs that included Iowa, Michigan, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
The NCAA’s transfer portal was open from between April 7-21. Frost was one of five transfers who left Notre Dame after this past season.
