MANKATO — Agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are working in Mankato, a city press release announced Friday.
Mankato Public Safety has been notified of DHS’ presence in town and agents have presented valid law enforcement credentials to authorities; however the specific nature of their activities was not made known.
Mankato Public Safety is not participating in or assisting with any DHS operation, the press release said.
The scope of any potential investigation is not known by public safety officials, nor do they know how long DHS will be in town, the press release said.
Anyone with questions regarding the authority of individuals claiming to be law enforcement are encouraged to contact 911 to verify their identity.
