Several animals are believed to have been killed in a fire at a residence in Hartland on Wednesday night.
First responders were called to 3484 Stone Road about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a fire and found a garage engulfed in fire with flames spreading to the nearby residence. It was quickly determined no one was inside the home.
Middleport, Barker, Hartland, Gasport Chemical Hose and Shelby volunteer fire companies, as well as members of the Medina Fire Department, responded to the scene.
Several animals are believed to have perished in the fire and the home was believed to be a total loss. The Red Cross was notified to assist the residents of the home.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is being continued by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit.
