• The city of Dalton’s offices and non-emergency services will be closed Dec. 25-26 as well as Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, but schedules for the collection of garbage and recycling are being adjusted to ensure minimal interruption in the service.
There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Dec. 25 or Dec. 26. Homes that normally receive their garbage and recycling collection on Mondays will have their collection service on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Homes that normally receive their garbage and recycling collection on Tuesdays will be serviced on Thursday, Dec. 28. All other collections will take place as normally scheduled.
The following week, there will be no garbage or recycling collection on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Homes that normally receive their garbage and recycling collection on Mondays will instead be serviced on Tuesday, Jan. 2. All other collections will take place as normally scheduled.
• Dalton Utilities’ and OptiLink’s business offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas.
They will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.
• The Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library will be closed Dec. 22-26.
• The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced the holiday hours of operation for its four facilities in Whitfield County. Locations include the Old Dixie Highway Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face and the M.L. King Convenience Center in Dalton.
All locations will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas, and reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 26, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., including the Westside Convenience Center. All locations will be open on Wednesday, Dec. 27, including the McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center.
