Rockport Golf Club recently held its annual club championships with winners crowned across multiple flights.
Alternating between match and stroke play each year, golfers at this summer’s marquee club event were pitted against one another in a stroke play format.
In the men’s championship division, Jeff Hobbs took home his 16th title by going 4-over par across the four-round tournament. He carded rounds of 72, 69, 73 and 70 (284 total) to beat out runner-up John Destino (74-79-68-74—284 (+15)) for the crown.
In the women’s championship, dubbed the “Curtis Cup”, Leslie Milne came out on top with a cumulative total of 279 (103-86-90 (+57)). She won via a tiebreaker over runner-up Margaret Hale (91-99-89—279).
In the Gladys Smith Cup, the second flight for the women’s division and played with handicaps, Sandy Anderson grabbed first place overall. She shot 78-72-76—226 (+4) over her three rounds.
And finally, in the men’s first flight championship it was Bowen Slingluff (68-70-73-75—286 (+6)) who took top honors, while Wayne Barrett (72-68-71-75—286 (+6)) won the second men’s flight.
