FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Historic Granville Announces Opening of the 2026 Season
Historic Granville open for the 2026 season Wednesday, March 18.
Visitors are invited to attend this special opening day ceremony from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and explore a range of new and returning exhibits and experiences.
A traveling exhibition from the Tennessee State Museum and the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial, “Our American Story: Voices from Tennessee,” will be featured in the newly acquired Independence Hall. This special exhibition complements Granville’s ongoing America 250 presentations and will be on display for a limited time March 18-28.
Granville’s America 250 exhibits in Independence Hall will continue through October. These exhibits highlight the Revolutionary War era, including interpretations of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the story of Betsy Ross and the first American flag, and the history of both the Tennessee State Flag and the United States flag.
A recreated bedroom exhibit shares the experiences of women and children during this formative period in American history. Area landmarks such as Raulston/McKinley Stand and Walton Road provide additional context, connecting national events to the community’s role in the nation’s development. Vintage artifacts further enhance the historical narrative and visitor experience.
The Granville Artisans Gallery and Workshop will also be open to showcase the work of community artisans. Guests are encouraged to attend the featured art show, celebrate the creativity and talent of regional artists, and learn more about the diverse classes and workshops planned for 2026.
Opening in the Granville Museum is Home Runs and Home Teams, a baseball exhibit on loan from East Tennessee History Museum through October. More than just a game, baseball has echoed the nation’s triumphs and trials, helping spark social change and bringing folks together across generations and divides.
From dusty small-town diamonds to big-league dreams, these tales capture the true heart of Tennessee baseball.
The established 10 venues have a new face as America celebrates this milestone year. Make plans to hear the new stories in Sutton Homestead and view the new vintage trucks in the Antique Car Museum. Lunch is available from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in Sutton General Store.
Granville’s hours of operation are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday- Friday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
