LAKE CRYSTAL — The Highway 60 reconstruction project has been completed and motorists will no longer encounter a traffic detour in the Lake Crystal area.
The detour was scheduled for removal by 6 p.m. Friday, according to a Minnesota Department of Transportation press release.
The project began April 15 and included reconstructing Highway 60 from Blue Earth County Road 20 to Blue Earth County Road 112 and utility replacement in coordination with the City of Lake Crystal. The project also included bridge repairs, intersection improvements, construction of a pedestrian trail and installation of lighting. Also, a channelized acceleration lane was added for motorists getting onto westbound Highway 60 from North Main Street in Lake Crystal.
While Highway 60 is now open to traffic, motorists may encounter brief, temporary lane closures later this fall or next spring. The closures will be necessary while crews complete remaining drainage work.
