GIRLS SOCCER
Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young 3, Franklin 2, 2OT
Abby Jones scored the game winner with under a minute left in double overtime as top seeded Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young returned to the Section IV Class D finals with a win over No. 4 seed Franklin on Wednesday, Oct. 29, in Richfield Springs.
The teams went back and forth all match, with both having offensive chances early, and several near misses late in regulation.
The host Eagles opened up a 1-0 lead about seven minutes into the game, when Riley Constantinitus finished a ball that had bounced around the box following a corner kick.
Franklin tied the game early in the second half on a drive and far-post shot by Shannon Kingsbury.
A minute later, the Purple Devils took the lead on an own goal. However, about seven minutes later, a mirror-image of the play ended up producing an Eagle goal and a 2-2 tie that would hold up for another hour.
Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young (15-2) will play No. 3 seed Edmeston/Morris in the Section IV Class D finals, which is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at Sidney Central School.
The Eagles beat E/M in the Tri-Valley League title game, 2-0, Saturday, Oct. 18, in Oneonta.
Edmeston/Morris 1, Charlotte Valley/Schenevus 0
Sophie Robinson got the lone goal to send No. 3 seed Edmeston/Morris to the Section IV Class D finals with an upset of No. 2 seed Charlotte Valley/Schenevus on Wednesday in Schenevus.
Elle Nichols got the assist after a thru-ball from Amira Ross.
Edmeston/Morris (11-5-1) will play top seed Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young in the finals Saturday in Sidney.
Watkins Glen 4, Oneonta 3, 2OT
Carly Stamas, Lyla Hinchey and Nora Sander all scored for No. 2 seed Oneonta, but No. 3 seed Watkins Glen got a double overtime goal for the upset in the Section IV Class B semifinals Wednesday in Oneonta.
McKenzie Wheaton got the game winner with 1:13 left in double overtime to send Watkins Glen to Saturday’s championship game against Chenango Forks.
CF, the top seed, beat No. 4 Sidney, 8-1, on Wednesday.
Oneonta outshot WG, 27-17, and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Sander also had two assists.
Ava Kelly scored twice, and Olivia King also scored for Watkins Glen, which got 17 saves from Emma Cady.
Desi Wheeler had 12 saves for Oneonta (7-6-2).
BOYS SOCCER
Bishop Ludden-Grimes 2, Cooperstown 1
Hayden Spencer scored but No. 5 seed Cooperstown lost to top seeded Bishop Ludden-Grimes in a Section III Class C semifinal Wednesday at Canastota High School.
Brayden Adika scored 23 minutes into the match and three minutes later, Luke Rudy found a loose ball in the box after a restart to create the 2-0 lead.
Spencer scored late in the first half off a cross by Shane Bradley following a Ben Lewis throw in.
Cooperstown outshot BLG, 18-7, while both teams had six corner kicks.
Cooper Coleman made three saves for Cooperstown (12-5-2).

VOLLEYBALL
Oneonta 3, Chenango Forks 0
Lily Bridger made nine kills, and Aubry Microni had four aces and 28 assists as Oneonta swept visiting Chenango Valley in a non-league match, 25-15, 25-22, 25-11, Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Oneonta won the junior varsity match, 2-1.
Lexi Requa had 24 digs for Chenango Valley.
Abby Belanger had 16 digs, and Kylie Carr had two Blocks for Oneonta (13-2), which are the top seed and will host the Section IV Class B tournament at 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6.
