Edmeston — Brenna Bolton scored nine of her game-high 20 points during a pivotal third-quarter run as No. 7 seeded Edmeston/Morris beat No. 10 Franklin, 54-35, in the opening round of the Section IV Class D girls basketball playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
E/M took a 10-2 lead early, but the Purple Devils responded. E/M led after one quarter, 15-8, but Franklin scored the first seven points of the second quarter. E/M led at halftime, 20-17.
The Purple Devils never led but tied the game twice in the first half and came within a point in the third quarter, 27-26, after a three-point basket and two free throws by Peyton Woodart. However, E/M went on a 14-0 run to end the third quarter for a 41-26 lead.
Woodart scored 15 points to lead Franklin, which also got 10 points from Daniella DeSilva.
Ava Dabreau scored 10 points for E/M, which also got eight points from Elle Nichols and seven points from Sophie Robinson.
Franklin ends it season at 8-13.
Edmeston/Morris (13-7) will play a quarterfinal game at No. 2 seeded Cherry Valley-Springfield (15-4), the Tri-Valley League champions, on Friday, Feb. 27, in Cherry Valley.

South Kortright/Andes 51, Afton 37
Carlee Dropp scored a team-high 12 points as No. 8 South Kortright/Andes beat No. 9 Afton in an opening-round game in the Section IV Class D playoffs on Tuesday.
Rylee Rupakus scored a game-high 14 points for Afton, which also got 11 points from Appalonia Bushaw.
Kennedy Quarino scored 12 points for SK/A, which also got 11 points from Alyssa Tucker and 10 points from Madysen Reeves.
Afton ends it season at 9-12.
South Kortright/Andes (13-8) will play top-seeded Stamford/Jefferson in the quarterfinals on Friday in Stamford.
S/J beat SK/A for the Delaware League title on Saturday, Feb. 21, at SUNY Delhi, ending a 15-year run atop the league by the Rams.
Bainbridge-Guilford 48, Greene 35
Victoria Suda scored a game-high 13 points as host B-G, the three seed, beat No. 14 seeded Greene in the Section IV Class C playoffs Tuesday.
Hailey Butler scored 10 points to lead Greene, which also for eight points each from Kaitlyn Youngs and Alexis Cloyd.
Marissa Mayo scored 11 points for the Bobcats, which also got 10 points from Jayslin Henderson.
Greene ends it season at 8-13.
Bainbridge-Guilford (18-2) will host No. 6 seed Notre Dame in the section quarterfinals on Friday. Notre Dame beat No 11 Marathon in the opening round Tuesday, 44-37.
Unatego 46, Oxford Academy 39
Finly Birdsall scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds as No. 10 Unatego upset host Oxford Academy, the seventh seed, in a Section IV Class C playoff game Tuesday.
Paige Rickard scored a game-high 17 points for Oxford, which also got 11 points from Margaret Rovente and seven points from Aubrey Rickard.
Harly Birdsall and Raelynn Parks each scored 10 points for the Spartans.
Oxford Academy ends its season at 13-8.
Unatego (12-9) will play Friday at No. 2 seeded Union Springs.
Union Springs 81, Harpursville 44
Lainey Steinbrecher scored a team-high 15 points, but No. 15 seeded Harpursville’s season ended Tuesday in Union Springs in the opening round of the Section IV Class C playoffs.
Adriana Hartman scored seven points for the Hornets, which also got six points each from Viviana Huston and Gabby Pawela.
Harpursville ends it season at 9-12.
