North Andover finishes 3-1
The Scarlet Knights defeated Salem (55-18), Concord-Carlisle (48-28) and Minnechaug Regional (41-30), while losing to Milford (37-27) in the annual dual meet tournament. Gabe Spanks had a great day at 215 pounds as he finished 4-0 including three wins by pin. Both Frank Gouveia (285) and Kyle Rhoton (150/157) won all three of their matches by pin, while, Jacob McCormick (132) and Zak Herberchuk (120) both finished 3-1 with two pins.
Winning two matches included Michael Gagnon (113), Aidan McSweeney (126), Josh Lester (138), Sebastian Hunter (144/150), Declan Noonan (144/150) and Sean Francis (165). Winning one match on the day included Dylan Landers (106), Tarik Benammi (157), Lucio Colon-Perez (175), David Timmons (190) and Brendan O’Donnell (285).
Andover also picks up three wins
Andover High Wrestling went 3-1 at the Haverhill Duals with victories over Excel Academy (70-9), Merrimack, New Hampshire (75-3), Saugus/Peabody (42-37), while losing to Salem, New Hampshire, 40-29, bringing the team’s overall record to 18-10.
Freshman Tommy Osborne had himself a nice day leading the Warriors, he finished the day 4-0 in the 215-pound class. Jason Ballou (120), Yandel Morales (126), Gavin Oliveira (157/165), Anthony Archambault (165/175) and Jacob Medeiros (275) also finished the day 4-0.
Nicholas Archambault (132/138) finished 3-1, while, Maddi Li (113) and Adrian Luck (150/157) earned two wins each, and Riley McLean (106), Ryan Van Buren (132), Chase Tedeschi (138), Joaquin Welch (144), Liam Flanagan (150), Ethan Radoux (175) and Lucas Souza (190) all had one victory.
Roque leads Lancers
Lawrence also competed at the Haverhill Duals with wins over Lincoln-Sudbury (54-19), Newton South (63-15) and Saugus/Peabody (41-25), while losing to Haverhill (51-15). Randy Roque was the lone grappler to finish 4-0, doing so at 106-pound division. Picking up three wins each included Mario Vincente (120), Domenic Armano (126), Naizel Florian (144), Jeancarlos Martinez (165), Tomas Polanco (175) and Daney Rosa (190). Jayden Reynoso (113), Elijah Santel (215) and Jorge Ryner (285) all won two matches and Ronald Nguyen (138) and Izzik Adames (285) had one each.
Midolo undefeated for Wildcats
Whittier Tech (17-12-1) finished 3-1 at the Travis Yell Memorial Dual Tournament. The day included wins over Winchester (48-30), Marblehead/Swampscott (54-21) and Essex Tech (54-12) before losing to eventual tournament finalist Lowell, 45-31.
Anthony Midolo finished 4-0 at 156 pounds, while, Matheus Binda (190) and Logan Hauck (215) both went 3-0. Finishing with 3-1 records included Logan Souza (106), Aiden Fogarty (113), Jayden Franco (126) and Braeden Jaber (175).
Picking up two wins each included Ethan Melendez (138), Cole Lintner (144), Luke Massaro (150), Colby Ferguson-Torrey (165) and Nick Anderson (275).
Timberlane cleans up
The Timberlane Owls wrestling team swept a quad meet, beating Hollis Brookline 61-17, Nashua North 64-11, and Goffstown 66-9. Going 3-0 on the day for the Owls was Ben Mann, Peter Morrissey, Talon Oljey, Cole Seuss, Reid Robinson and Spencer Sierra. Timberlane is now 18-5 on the season and wrap up their dual meet portion of the schedule Wednesday night at Concord.
Pinkerton also sweeps
In a quad meet held at Alvirne High, Pinkerton defeated host Alvirne (52-15), Bishop Guertin (45-27) and Bedford (44-36). Going undefeated on the day included Evan Landry (157), Thomas Lacroix (190) and James Caruso (285), who all finished 3-0. Taking two victories each included Peter Sakash (106), Aiden Doyle (120), Mason Beaudoin (126), Matthew Gormady (132), Beckett Jonas (138), Anthony Sconza (144), Nelphison DeAlmeida (165) and Anthony Caruso (215). Connor Combs finished 1-2 at 150 pounds.
Windham takes one
Windham competed in a quad meet at Bow, and came away with a win over Milford, but fell to Concord and Bow. Slayde Watson and Dylan Suliveras both went 3-0, while, Liam McGrail, Tyler Tokanel, Rocco Ponzini and Con Isaac all finished with two wins, and finally, Zoe Millette and Ryan Dogherty had one win.
Pythons have strong day
Pelham hosted four teams for a super quad meet coming away with wins over Manchester Central (72-0), Manchester West (64-18) and Manchester Memorial (58-21), while losing to Spaulding (48-35), putting the Pythons record to 18-6 on the season.
Taking home four victories each included Lex Kieran at 106, Hunter Knight at 113, Liz Donovan at 126, Ben Maslanek at 138, Michael Harrington at 144 and Russell Leonard at 190.
Winning three matches included Matt Raymond (120), Nathan Maslanek (157) and Billy Nicholls (175), while, Drew Nicolosi (132), Joel Llibre (165) and Victor Zannoni (285) won two matches apiece. Philippe Jussaume rounded things out with one win from the 150-pound division.
New England Prep
St. Sebastian’s 48, Brooks 21
Brooks’ winners included Phillip Choi (126), Aiden Crott (150), Elijah Saliev (165) by pin, while Nick MacCormack (132) won a 7-2 decision. In the extra matches, Kam Bradley won by fall in the second period and Andover’s Leito Betts on a major decision by an 8-0 score.
Boys Hockey
Andover 2, Chelmsford 0
Captain Brendan Murnane had the game winning goal with an assist from Alex Hubler. Marcel Joe scored an empty net goal with assists from Ryan Jaillet and Murnane. Vinnie D’Urso had 21 saves to earn the shut out.
Methuen 7, Cambridge 0
Holding onto a 2-0 lead going into the third period, the Rangers erupted for five more tallies to break it wide open. Quinn Ronan led the way with three goals, while, linemate Will MacLaren added two. Noah Kneeland and Nikolas Fehmel had single goals. Goaltender Owen O’Brien stopped all 13 shots to come away with the shutout.
Whittier Tech/Amesbury 7, Pentucket 3
Bodie Marcotte, Matt Venturi and Joey Duggan once again had big games to lead the Redhawks to their fifth straight win. Marcotte finished with 2 goals and 2 assists, Venturi had 2 goals and Duggan had 3 assists. Ben Richard, Wes Ackerman and Ryan Guertin had one goal each, while, Evan Murphy picked up 2 helpers and Lincoln Kime, Nathan Brown and Brady Coburn had one each.
Colin Dyer made 12 saves and was relieved after two periods by Vincenzo Foster who made three stops.
Lincoln-Sudbury 3, Central Catholic 2 (OT)
Central Catholic can’t seem to catch a break, falling in another overtime game. Charlie Winship and Brady Rockenbach scored the goals, while goalie Jake McLean made 21 saves.
Concord 7, Pinkerton Academy 1
Concord was too strong for Pinkerton in this NH Division I battle. Zach Baker scored the lone goal and in net, Tommy Richards made 24 saves.
Salem 7, Nashua North/Souhegan 2
Gavin Doughty ignited the offense for the Blue Devils as he finished with 2 goals and 4 assists for his 6-point night. Max Condon added 2 goals and 1 assist and Luke Barton had 1 goal and 2 assists. Also in the mix included Owen Doherty with two helpers and single tallies from Ethan Ross and Vincent Aiello.
Goalie Colby Savageau turned away 19 shots for the win.
Windham takes three points
The Jaguars played back-to-back games over the weekend, ending in a 3-3 tie with Keene on Saturday and then defeating St. Thomas Aquinas, 6-2, on Sunday.
In the tie, Aiden Quaglietta scored two goals and Casey Kramer had the other. Goalie Ben Breen turned away 25 shots.
In the win, both Nate Crowley and AJ Martino scored two goals each, while, Liam Sullivan and Kramer had one each. Roberto Robles earned the win in net with 12 saves.
Girls Hockey
Central Catholic 2, Weston-Wayland 0
In the first meeting, the Raiders were defeated 5-1, and this time they totally flipped the script, coming away with a shutout victory behind 17 saves from goalie Sydney Foster. She was helped out offensively by Lucy Irwin who had a goal and an assist, while Molly Botden added a goal with ten minutes left in the third to seal the deal. Maddie Del vecchio came through with two assists and Sophia Flores had one.
Methuen/Tewksbury 1, Shrewsbury 1
Trailing by a goal midway through the third period, Bree Lawrence tied it up for the Red Rangers with a power play goal which was set up by MJ Petisce.
Girls Basketball
Pelham 54, Sanborn 19
Pelham raced out to a 15-2 first quarter lead and never looked back in a game held on Friday. Liv Todd, Sophia Guinazzo, and Grace Riley scored in double digits to lead the way. The Pythons had 11 players score.
