Girls Hockey
Methuen/Tewksbury 5, HPNA 2
The Red Rangers (10-3-0) qualified for the state tournament once again with a convincing victory over their Merrimack Valley Conference/Dual County League rivals played Sunday night at Merrimack College. Defenseman MJ Petisce paced the offense with two goals and two assists, while, Sammy Ryan had two goals and Bree Lawrence had the other. Picking up assists were Sarah Doherty, Kat Schille and Emma Ryan.
For HPNA (6-5-2), Gabriela Locke scored both goals and was set-up both times by Mia Kmiec, while, Chase Nassar had one helper.
Concord-Carlisle 4, Central Catholic 3
The Raiders fell in a back-and-forth MVC/DCL game played on Saturday. Lucy Irwin led the offense with two goals and Sofia Florequero had the other.
Pinkerton Academy 6, St. Thomas 0
Riley Dunn kept up her torrid scoring streak by netting four more goals and adding one assist. Emily Gosselin had the two other goals and she added four assists, all on Dunn’s goals. Phoebe Pouliot, Dillon Haverty and Piper Knowlton each had one assist.
Boys Hockey
Windham 5, Nashua South/Pelham 0
The Jaguars (9-2) completely dominated this game, including holding a 53-9 advantage in shots. Casey Kramer led the attack with three goals, while, Rocco Mancini and Sam Kramer had one each. Roberto Robles turned away all nine shots for the shutout win.
Central Catholic 1, Westford Academy 0
After a couple of tough losses, Central came away with a big MVC/DCL win over the Grey Ghosts. Charlie Winship scored the lone goal with assists going to Aiden Pinet and Brady Rickenbach. Goalie Jake McLean made all 16 saves to register his third shutout of the season.
Whittier Tech/Amesbury 6, Lynnfield 4
Goalie Colin Dyer came up with 32 saves to earn the win. He was helped out offensively by Bodie Marcotte (3 goals and 1 assist), Matt Venturi (1 goal, 4 assists) and Joey Duggan (1 goal 3 assists) as the trio combined for 13 points on the night. Ben Richard added a goal and both Maddox LeBlanc and Wes Ackerman had an assist.
Wrestling
Haverhill/Timberlane compete in Quad Meet
Haverhill and Timberlane competed in a quad meet along with Danbury and Simsbury, Connecticut.
Haverhill and Timberlane were tied at 31 with one match left and the Hillies prevailed with a win from Shane Velasquez to come away with the 37-31 victory. Haverhill also defeated Simsbury, 46-30 but lost to Danbury, 43-35, bringing the team’s total record to 18-2.
On the day, Aiden Morris (106), Michael Morris (113), Shea Morris (138) and Brent Nicolosi (165) all finished 3-0. Cale Wood (120), Gage Muir (126) and Jayden Flanagan (175) all finished 2-1, while, Kevin McAninch (190), Leandro Say Castellanos (215) and Velasquez all had one win.
Timberlane (14-4) beat Simsbury, 45-29 and lost to Danbury, 44-22. Going 3-0 for the day were Jake Andrade and Spencer Sierra.
Whittier and Gr. Lawrence compete at Voke Championships
The Wildcats finished with 155.5 points and in fifth place out of 18 teams. Aiden Fogarty (113), Anthony Midolo (157) and Braeden Jaber (175) all finished in second place. Logan Souza (106) was third and Harrison Baccam (19) was fourth. Cole Lintner (144), Luke Massaro (150) and Colby Ferguson-Torrey (165) all had two wins and Nick Anderson (285) had one.
Greater Lawrence finished in sixth place and had six medalists including second places from Justin Toglia (120) and Michael Pena (165), a third from Joshua Matos (150), a fourth from Kaelib Reynolds (157) and fifths from Izick Diaz (106) and Dylan Smith (144).
Andover wins two
Andover competed in the Duxbury Dual Meet Tournament, coming away with wins over Plymouth North (72-12) and Duxbury (42-32), while losing to Boston Latin (45-3), putting the Golden Warriors at 15-8 on the season.
Jason Ballou (120), Yandel Morales (126), Nicholas Archambault (132/138), Chase Tedeschi (138/144), Anthony Archambault (165), and Jacob Medeiros (275) all went 3-0 on the day.
Tommy Osborne (215) finished 2-1, while Riley McLean (106), Maddy Li (113), Alexander Luck (144), Adrian Luck (150), Gavin Oliveira (157) and Nico Welch (175) all had one win.
Brooks 42, Avon Old Farms 30
Winners for Brooks included Philip Choi (126), Nick MacCormack (132), Brooks Hawkins (138), Mujeeb Amin (144), Aiden Crott (150), Andover resident Leito Betts (165) and Ryan Tsai (175).
Pinkerton takes third
Pinkerton Academy finished in third place at the Capital City Classic held in Concord, New Hampshire. Bishop Hendricken of Rhode Island and Noble High of Maine finished first and second.
Cam Arbogast (132) and Lance Bordeleau (138) were champs, while, Evan Landry (157) and Landon MacKiernan (175) both finished third. Nels DeAlmeida (165) was fourth, and Tommy LaCroix (190) was sixth.
Pelham sweeps
The Pythons participated in a quad meet and won all three over Exeter (48-31), Milford (53-30) and Raymond (72-6) to improve to 14-5 on the season.
Coming away with three wins each included Lex Kieran (106), Matt Raymond (120), Liz Donovan (126), Michael Harrington (144), Billy Nicolls (175) and Russel Leonard (190). Winning two matches each included Hunter Knights (113), Nathan Maslanek (150), Phillip Smith (157), Joel Llibre (165), while, Drew Nicolosi (132), Ben Maslanek (138) and Victor Zannoni (285) had one each.
Boys Basketball
Lawrence 75, Brockton 56
The Lancers improved to 11-3 with a non-league victory. Obbie Luciano led the way with 29 points and 10 rebounds, while, Adriel Vasquez (14), Igor Gonzalez (10 points, 23 rebounds), Joendy Rosario (6 points, 7 assists) and Joan Vidal (6 points, 8 rebounds) all contributed to the win.
North Andover 64, Billerica 45
The Scarlet Knights improved to 9-3 overall with a convincing win over its MVC foes. Zach Wolinski led the way with 26 points and was helped out by Jake Saalfrank, who had 11 and Nikolas Catalano with 9.
Brooks 71, BB&N 52
Four players ended in double figures to lead Brooks to a NE Prep victory. Alex Wilkins led the way with 15 points, followed by Timmy Mulvey (13), Gabriel Nwobi (12) and Emerson Davis (11).

Andover 46, Tewksbury 26
Cate Margolis led the offense with 15 points, all coming thanks to five three-pointers, while she was helped out by Ella Vidoni who pumped in 10 and Michaela Buckley, who added 7.
Billerica 43, North Andover 30
The Scarlet Knights dropped to 5-8 on the season with a tough league loss. Sydney Rogers had an impressive night in the losing effort with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks. Teammates Janie Papell and Alex Clifford added 8 points each.
Gymnastics
Central Catholic 151.35, Methuen 136.85
With what seems like a broken record, the Central Catholic Raiders broke a school record with its team score of 151.35.
Central was led by the top two all-around performers with Zinnia Hopkinson (39.1) and Riley Salerno (37.3). Hopkinson was first on the bars (9.7), tied with teammate Ally White for a 9.8 on the balance beam and was first on the floor exercise also with a 9.8.
Salerno was second on the bars (9.4) and third on the vault (9.65). Also for Central, Sophia Tressler was second on the vault and beam with 9.7 scores on both. Ashlyn Pinet was third on the beam with a 9.2 and White added a third on the floor (9.4).
For Methuen, Kendra Scott was third in the all-around with a 34.1. Also, Divier Ramos was first on the vault (9.95), second on the floor (9.5) and third on the bars (8.8).
North Andover 143.2, Andover 139.05
In a thrilling Merrimack Valley Conference Meet held Sunday afternoon, North Andover broke a program record with its 143.2 score.
Leading the way for the Scarlet Knights was Carlin Wong, who had a personal record 37.1 score in the all-around competition. She won the balance beam with a personal record 9.5 score, and also was first on the floor with the same 9.5 score, tied for first with teammate Kaitlyn Micale with a 9.4 and then was second behind Micale (9.1) on the bars with an 8.7.
Presley Nicolas, also of North Andover, was second in the all-around posting a 34.95 score which included a personal record 9.1 on the floor, a 9.05 on the beam and an 8.4 on the bars.
Also having strong performances for the Scarlet Knights included Nellie Gosselin with a personal best 9.25 on the vault and Sydney Hanssen with her own personal best of 9.3 on the beam, which tied for the top mark with Andover’s Lauren Ilsley.
Also for Andover, Gabby Bresnick earned a 9.3 on the floor, a 9.25 on the beam and a 9.15 on the vault, while, Amanda Oltman was third in the all-around with a 33.7 including an 8.5 on the bars and Sophia Hutchins was fourth in the all-around including a 9.25 on the beam and a 9.0 on the vault. Olivia Moccia rounded things off with an 8.8 on the floor.
