Andover had a strong showing at the Woburn Tournament, including sending four grapplers to the finals with three coming away with wins. At 126 pounds, Yandel Morales was crowned the champion as well as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler in the lower weight divisions. Also winning titles included Jason Ballou (120) and Anthony Archambault (165). Nicholas Archambault finished second, followed by Chase Tedeschi who was fourth and Jacob Medeiros, who was fifth …
… At the same tournament, Central Catholic had seven places finishers. Brian Waller-Reitano, Jackson Meehan, Ashley Dehney and Nate Blanchette all finished in second place, while, Rhys Dewar and Pablo Salas finished in third and Cole Glynn was fifth.
… North Andover finished in third place, trailing New Bedford and Silver Lake Regional at the Jim Peckham Invitational held in Canton. Ten different wrestlers placed in the tournament for the Scarlet Knights included Kyle Rhoton (150) and Gabe Spanks (215) who took first, Josh Lister (138) and Frank Gouveia (285) who were tournament finalists, Michael Gagnon (113), Aidan McSweeney (126), Jack Hart (175) and David Timmons (190) who all finished third, and then both Jacob McCormick (132) and Declan Noonan (144) both placed sixth …
… Whittier Tech (10-8-1) competed in a quad meet held at Sharon High and came away with a 2-1 record, which included wins over St. John’s of Shrewsbury (51-30) and Essex Tech (42-15), while losing to host Sharon (48-29). Aiden Fogarty was the only Wildcats’ wrestler to finish 3-0, doing so at 113 pounds. Picking up two wins included Logan Souza (106), Jayden Franco (126), Braeden Jaber (175) and Matheus Binda (190). Jayden Torres (120), Ethan Melendez (132), Dana Kilroy (138), Luke Massaro (150), Logan Hauck (215) and Colbey Kent (285) all had one victory each …
… Methuen (12-1) bounced back after its loss to Andover last Wednesday with wins over South Shore Tech (72-3) and Taunton (44-30). Picking up two wins each included Michael McCormick (106), Dom Gangi (113), Cael Keough (132), Anthony DeMaio (138), Vincent DeMaio (157), Anthony Campagnone (165) and Peter Simone (285). … Haverhill traveled to Loch Sheldrake, New York for the prestigious Eastern States Classic. The team finished in 12th place with 47.5 points. Brent Nicolosi finished 6-1 on the weekend, which was good for third place. After losing his semi-final match to Cam Cartabone, who is ranked No. 8 in the country, Nicolosi came back to dominate his final two consolation round matches. Also placing was Matthew Harrold, who was 8th despite competing with a banged up shoulder. Michael Morris finished 3-1, while, Shae Morris and Cale Wood had one win each. The Hillies will return to action on Wednesday with a trip to North Andover for an MVC matchup …
… In a tri-meet held on Friday night, Greater Lawrence (9-7-1) finished 1-2 with a win over Reading, while losing to Triton Regional and Wakefield. Izick Diaz, Dylan Smith and Josh Matos all went 3-0 for the Reggies. Justin Toglia and Kaelib Reynolds had a pair of wins, while, Jerymar DeJesus, Jayden Pena, Michael Pena, Armany Melo and Daniel Estrada also picked up victories …
… In New Hampshire wrestling, Pelham hosted a 13-team “Daniel Gionet Memorial Tournament” and came away with a second place finish behind winner Sanford, Maine. For the Pythons, Billy Nicolls (175) was the lone champion, while, Hunter Knight (113), Liz Donovan (126), Michael Harrington (144), Nathan Maslanek (150) and Russell Leonard (190) all finished second. Rounding out the place finishers included fourth places from Lex Kieran (106), Drew Nicolosi (132) and Phillip Smith (157) …
… Pinkerton Academy had a tough time finishing 0-4 against four very powerful teams at the Springfield Mass Duals. The Owls were defeated by Milford (44-22), Shawsheen Tech (51-14), Hampden Charter (37-36) and Mount Anthony, Vermont (41-33). Nels DeAlmeida (165) and Landon MacKiernan (175) both finished 4-0 on the day. Cam Arbogast (132) and Evan Landry (157) finished 3-1, while, Connor Combs (150), Tom LaCroix (190) and Anthony Caruso (215) all had two wins, while, Diago Jimenez (285) had one win …

Chris Guarnaccia, Tyler Tokanel and Con Isaac went 4-0, Zoe Millette, Evan Ortolani, Henry Palmer and Slayde Watson finished 3-1, Dylan Suliveras, Dylan Roy and Ryan Dogherty went 3-0, Jack Hoyt split his matches at 2-2 and Ryan Hiltz and Jason Scharff had one win each…
… Timberlane Regional traveled to Souderton, Pennsylvania for the Big Red Duals against District 1 Large schools on Saturday and battled to a 2-2 record. Securing three wins on the day were Jacob Andrade, Spencer Sierra, Talon Oljey, Jason OBrien and Matt Boucher. Ben Mann, Peter Morrissey, Joe Consalvo and Cole Abel won two matches each, while, Cameron Pettengill, Cole Seuss, Kyle Lindblad and Caleb Goldman took one win each. Up next for the Owls, who are now 12-2 overall and 6-0 in New Hampshire, are trips to Pinkerton on Tuesday and Bedford Wednesday …
… In NE Prep action, Brooks finished 2-0-1 with wins over Tabor Academy (51-18) and Milton Academy 48-24, while ending in a tie with Noble and Greenough (36-36). Drake Tarlow of Salem, N.H. won all four of his matches including three by pin. Taking two wins each included Philip Choi (126), Brooks Hawkins (132), Nick MacCormack (138), Mujeeb Amin (144) and Aiden Crott (157), while Ryan Tsai and North Andover’s Bilal Benayoud won one match.
Boys Hockey
Windham 5, Manchester 1
Windham cruised to a NH Division 1 contest win behind two goals from Seamus Ross and one each from AJ Martino, Aiden Quaglietta and Rocco Mancini. Goalie Ben Breen stopped 24 of 25 shots to earn the win.
Elsewhere in NH play, Bow defeated Pinkerton Academy 5-2, Hanover blanked Salem, 7-0 and Oyster River defeated Timberlane, 11-0.
Central Catholic 5, Chelmsford 2
Central has now won three straight to improve its record to 4-5-1. Brady Rickenbach led the way with two goals, while, Charlie Winship dished out three helpers. Aiden Pinet, Jordan Mudugno and Adam Godfrey scored the other goals. Goalie Logan Sheedy made 11 saves for the win.
Haverhill 11, Lowell 2
Leading 3-2 after the first period, the Hillies erupted for five goals in the second to break the game wide open. Jake Costa had a huge game with 3 goals and 3 assists, while Jack Baker also had a hat trick and two assists and Dylan Marini scored 2 goals and one assists. Ethan Jalbert, Zach Hurrell and Will Janes contributed with 2 assists each.
Rounding out the scoring with one goal included Tim Rosenthal, Matt Costa, Matt Lopes and Bobby Caron, and single assists from Nolan Sheehan, Pat McGowan and Brady Bonnell. Goalie Max Boyer made 11 saves for the win.
Methuen 1, Bedford 1
In a game between two unbeaten teams, neither could get one in the back of the net in the overtime period and settled for the tie. Methuen (7-0-2) goalie Owen O’Brien “was outstanding on the night, withstanding a first period attack from Bedford,” said head coach Billy Blackwell, noting that his goalie turned away 48 of 49 shots. Offensively, Noah Kneeland scored the Rangers’ goal.
Whittier Tech/Amesbury 3, Rockport 2
Matt Venturi was the hero as he scored the game winner in overtime, while he dished out two assists earlier in the game. Bodie Marcotte scored the other two goals, while, Joey Duggan and Riley Guertin had one assist each. Goalie Colin Dyer made 17 saves, while in front of him Evan Murphy and Lincoln Kime were outstanding on defense. Whittier/Amesbury is now 3-5-0 on the season.
Westford Academy 3, Andover 0
The Golden Warriors couldn’t get anything going offensively and were defeated in a MVC/DCL Division 1 contest.
Phillips Andover 6, St. Paul’s 2
In a NE Prep game, Phillips was led offensively by David O’Neill and Graydon Robertson-Palmer, who had two goals each, while Sam Myles and Jake LeDoux had a goal and an assist, and Peyton Militello, Alex Small and Rui Hann had 2 assists each.
Alex Theodore had the other goal, while, Zachary and Ethan Skowronek as well as Felix Beaulieu had one assist each. Goalie Ben Skowronek had 26 saves.
Girls Hockey
HPNA 7, Westford Academy 1
HPNA has continued its hot streak with a dominating showing over MVC/DCL rival Westford. Paige Nottingham, Mia Kmiec and Gabi Locke had two goals each and Lauren Lynch had the other. Goalie Juliana Taylor made 16 saves.
Billerica/Chelmsford 4, Andover 2
Trailing 2-0, Andover scored the game’s next four goals behind tallies from Grace Johnson, Abigail Walles, Casey Michael and Nora Hurley. Both Bella Difiore and Roos Klaarenbeek had two assists.
Lincoln/Sudbury 3, Methuen/Tewksbury 2
The Red Rangers were defeated in overtime. Before that goal by the Warriors’ Bree Lawrence and Emily Barbosa scored single tallies and goalie Lydia Barnes had another strong game in net with 25 saves.
Pinkerton Academy 12, Kingswood 2
Riley Dunn kept up her absolute scorching streak, this time scoring 6 goals and adding 2 assists. Emily Gosselin also had a big night with 4 goals and 2 assists, while, Jordan Gravel’Maher and Ava Bull had the other two goals.

Londonderry 64, Salem 31
In a game played Friday night, Salem (5-2) was defeated by a talented Londonderry (6-0) team in a New Hampshire Division I game. Offensively for the Blue Devils, Nicole Ringdahl, Gabriella Mosto and Makayla Burns had 7 points each.
Greater Lawrence 43, Academy of Notre Dame 19
The Reggies extended their winning streak to five games with a dominating Commonwealth Athletic Conference victory. The team was led by three talented freshmen, Maliah Caban, Camila Colon and Lexi Rabito, who combined to score 27 of the team’s 43 points. In addition, Danna Cabreja added 8 points and 13 rebounds and Ashley Suero contributed with 3 points and 4 assists.
Boys Basketball
Brooks 75, Nobles 61
Alex Wilkins (23 points), Riley Clarke (18 points), Trokon Harris (15 points) and Timmy Mulvey (13 points), combined to score 69 points as Brooks bumped back up to the .500 mark at 6-6 with the New England Prep game victory played on Saturday. Clarke and Mulvey had four 3-pointers each.
