Boys Southeast Whitfield 70, Dalton Academy 53
Southeast Whitfield (1-0) opened the season Friday night with a 70-53 win over Dalton Academy (0-2).
The Raiders earn their first win under new head coach Mark Oliver, who took over after former head coach Ben Oliver stepped down.
Southeast plays North Murray in a tourney at Gordon Central High on Monday at 8:30 p.m.
Dalton Academy hosts Pepperell on Nov. 27.
North Murray 88, Chattooga 50
Despite missing a few key players who were busy playing in the high school football playoffs Friday night, the North Murray Mountaineers (1-0) opened the season with an 88-50 win over Chattooga (0-2).
North Murray led 32-23 at halftime then piled up 33 points in the third to pull away.
Beau Ellis poured in 31 points while hitting five 3-pointers. JD Ellis hit four from long range and had 22. Isaiah Morrison scored 11. The Mountaineers hit 13 3-pointers as a team.
The game was part of North Murray’s Turkey Jam tournament, hosted at the school. The Mountaineers play Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe today at 5 p.m.
Girls Christian Heritage 53, Washington-Wilkes 32
Christian Heritage (1-2) got its first win under new head coach Josh Hembree Friday night.
The Lady Lions defeated Washington-Wilkes (0-1) 53-32 Friday.
Christian Heritage plays Lincoln County today at 4:30.
Southeast Whitfield 41, Dalton Academy 16
Southeast Whitfield (1-1) traveled across town and defeated Dalton Academy (0-2) 41-16 Friday night.
The Lady Raiders led 31-6 after three quarters.
Johanna Ortiz led Southeast with 11 points, while Miracle Godoy scored 10.
Southeast plays in a tournament at Gordon Central against North Murray on Tuesday, and then Dalton Academy and Southeast play again on Tuesday.
North Murray 53, Pepperell 43North Murray is 2-0 after another win Friday in the school’s Turkey Jam tournament.
The Lady Mountaineers defeated Pepperell (0-1) 53-43 Friday night after taking down Chattooga 60-37 in the event on Wednesday.
North Murray plays Coahulla Creek at 2 p.m. at home today to close out its three-game stretch in the Turkey Jam.
