Boys Rockmart 84, North Murray 82
Despite 51 points from Judson Petty, North Murray fell two points shy in a Region 7-2A showdown between a pair of teams that entered with just one loss apiece.
North Murray (14-2) came up two points short in an 84-82 loss to Rockmart (14-1) Tuesday.
Petty piled up points throughout the game, scoring at least 10 in every quarter. Petty finished with 18 2-point makes, hit a 3-pointer, and went to the free throw line 17 times, hitting 12 of them.
Normally a balanced offensive attack, North Murray went to the hot hand in Petty Tuesday. Gavin Pittman was North Murray’s next highest scorer with 10, while Brandy Contreras and Isaiah Morrison both scored seven.
North Murray led 22-17 after the first quarter and 44-41 at halftime, but trailed 65-64 after three quarters.
Rockmart’s Treylin Davis put in 35 points and hit seven 3-pointers, while Triston Anderson scored 29.
North Murray plays at Murray County Friday night at 8:30.
Christian Heritage 68, Bowdon 35
Christian Heritage (14-2) opened Region 7-A DII play by pounding Bowdon (2-13) 68-35 at home on Tuesday.
Dontae Crowder led the Lions with 21 points and five steals. Jax Abernathy and Isaac Plavich both scored 12 points.
The Lions host Atlanta Classical Academy for another Region 7-A DII game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Cartersville 49, Dalton 41
Dalton (4-10) dropped its Region 7-5A opener 49-41 to Cartersville (5-9) at home Tuesday.
Kobi Cooper scored 15 to lead Dalton, while Jermichael Craft put in nine.
Dalton continues Region 7-5A action Friday at 8:30 p.m. against Hiram.
Coahulla Creek 77, Ridgeland 41
Coahulla Creek (12-4) trounced Ridgeland (9-6) 77-41 on the road Tuesday night.
Chase Ward poured in 34 points, while a quartet of Colts all scored nine. Gage Voyles, David Noll, Carter Quarles and Andrew Russell all had nine.
The win puts Creek at 6-0 in Region 6-3A action.
Creek hosts Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe for another region game Friday at 8:30 p.m.
Dalton Academy 50, Oakwood Christian 39
For the first time in program history, the Dalton Academy Pumas have won back-to-back games.
Dalton Academy (4-9) defeated Oakwood Christian (4-11) 50-39 at home on Tuesday, marking the first time the program has won consecutive games and setting another new mark for most wins in a season. TDA went winless in its first season two years ago, then finished with one win last season.
TDA plays at Gordon Central Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Girls Christian Heritage 61, Bowdon 38
Christian Heritage (10-8) defeated Bowdon (0-11) 61-38 Tuesday night at home in Region 7-A DII play.
Christian Heritage hosts Mt. Zion Friday at 6 p.m.
Dalton 65, Cartersville 53
Dalton (8-6) began Region 7-5A play with a 65-53 win over Cartersville (7-9) at home Tuesday night.
Gracie Ridley led Dalton with 24 points and had 10 rebounds and three steals. Emma Hefner had 11 points, Jolie Wingfield had nine and Kemara Washington scored eight.
Dalton hosts Hiram Friday night at 7.
Coahulla Creek 52, Ridgeland 40
Coahulla Creek (10-5) knocked off Ridgeland (6-10) 52-40 on the road Tuesday night.
The win puts Creek at 5-1 in Region 6-3A play.
The Lady Colts play Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Friday at 7 p.m.
Oakwood Christian 58, Dalton Academy 29
Dalton Academy (1-12) fell 58-29 to Oakwood Christian (9-5) on Tuesday.
The Lady Pumas play at Gordon Central at 6 p.m. Friday.
Rockmart 60, North Murray 36
North Murray (10-6) was beaten 60-36 at home by Rockmart (9-4) Tuesday night.
The loss drops the Lady Indians to 2-3 in Region 7-2A play.
North Murray travels across the county Friday night to play Murray County at 7.
