Two residents of a home at 364 Hawley St. are being assisted by the American Red Cross following a fire Tuesday afternoon.
Lockport firefighters were alerted to the fire about 3:40 p.m. and upon arrival could see flames coming from a second-floor bedroom. Two residents had safely exited the home. Firefighters extinguished the second-floor fire in about 15 minutes with several hot spots doused during a search of the home.
Direct fire damage was contained to the second floor of the home, however, smoke and water damage occurred to almost the entirety of the house. The $94,000 home suffered about $40,000 in damage, according to firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
