Bank helps Merrimack River Eagle Festival soar
NEWBURYPORT — The Newburyport Bank Charitable Foundation donated $7,500 to support the Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats’ 2025 Merrimack River Eagle Festival Saturday, Feb. 15.
The bank, founded in Newburyport in 1854, has branches in the Massachusetts and New Hampshire communities of Amesbury, Dover, Exeter, Hampton, Newbury, Portsmouth and Salisbury.
The Eagle Festival is part of the work of the Mass Audubon Joppa Flats Education Center. Overlooking the Merrimack River, the center offers unique educational opportunities for people of all ages, focusing on the region’s wildlife-rich habitats. The day was packed with indoor and outdoor activities celebrating the return of Bald Eagles. Attendees learned about these magnificent creatures and other amazing raptors while exploring the vital role our local habitat plays in their survival.
“Our support of Mass Audubon helps further their mission of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife, and we’re especially fortunate to have Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center and their focus on the Merrimack River as a neighbor. It’s a great asset to our community,” said Newburyport Bank President John Burcke.
