Lace up those running shoes and get those costumes ready for the Haunted Half Marathon, 5K, and Relay.
The race returns to Cookeville Saturday, Oct. 25, bringing a fun, festive, and slightly spooky start to the Halloween weekend.
“Registration is now open,” said Michael England, race director for WCTE PBS. “Don’t miss your chance to be part of this Cookeville tradition!”
The race will begin at 7 a.m. on Dixie Avenue at Tennessee Tech University and will finish on the historic TTU Quad. Known for nearly 20 years as one of the Upper Cumberland’s most beloved running traditions, the Haunted Half blends scenic fall running with a playful Halloween theme.
This year’s race is expected to draw more than 500 runners from across the Upper Cumberland and Middle Tennessee, making it one of the largest community events of the season.
Runners can look forward to a variety of perks, including custom race shirts for those who register by Sept. 15, custom bibs, fun giveaways, and professional action photos to capture the excitement. Every finisher will receive a costume-themed medal, and top age group awards. There will also be overall awards presented for the Half Marathon, Relay, and 5K.
In addition, there will be a best costume award for both male and female participants and relay team costume, adding even more fun to the festive spirit.
All runners will receive a discounted ticket to WCTE PBS’s popular Blues & Brews Craft Beer Festival on the same day at Trackside.
Proceeds from the Haunted Half benefit WCTE PBS, helping support local programming and community initiatives across the Upper Cumberland.
“We love seeing this community come together every year to celebrate health, fun, and the spirit of Halloween while also supporting public media,” England said.
