CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Library System will host workshops focused on the science of food preservation this month.
Grow It, Eat It, Preserve It!, offered in partnership with University of Maryland Extension, is a series of hands-on workshops on canning techniques. Each session pairs a demonstration with a lecture on making orange jelly, and every participant will go home with an educational packet and a pint jar of orange jelly.
The workshops are open to all ages. Registration is required.

• Aug. 14, 11:15 a.m.–1:45 p.m., Westernport Library @ 121 Main.
• Aug. 21, 9:30 a.m.–noon, Frostburg Library.
• Aug. 26, 1-3:30 p.m., George’s Creek Library.
