NEWBURYPORT — Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Newburyport offers the fifth and final presentation of its “Senses of Orthodoxy” series on Friday at 7 p.m.
“Perfumes of Orthodoxy” will focus on the role of candles, incense, rose water and myrrh in the Orthodox tradition.
The event will feature an abridged Christmas service, followed by a lecture given by Kimberley Patton, professor of the comparative and historical study of religion at Harvard Divinity School.
A reception will follow in the church’s Nicholson Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
