MANKATO — Greater Mankato Growth has been awarded $40,000 from the Greater Twin Cities United Way to help enhance existing work-based learning opportunities in the region and develop new ones, GMG announced in a news release.
GMG collaborated with Mankato Area Public Schools on the grant proposal, and the district will receive $20,000 of the funding to support its work-based learning department.
The funding was made possible through a partnership between GTCUW and the Minnesota Chamber Foundation and also will support Regional Economic Development Alliance initiatives around workforce development and resident retention initiatives.
GMG has added additional staff to the economic development team to support these initiatives.
GMG was one of 11 chambers of commerce across the state to receive funding under this program.
