TRAVERSE CITY — Portions of Hammond and Three Mile roads are now passable, though ongoing construction projects remain active along both corridors, according to an update from the Grand Traverse County Road Commission.
Motorists traveling near the construction can now safely traverse East Hammond Road to North Three Mile Road as road crews continue upgrades to the East Bay Township corridors.
The county’s road commission noted in a Facebook update that portions of the roads are still closed to traffic, including the span on Hammond Road between Townline and West Three Mile roads.
A stretch of Three Mile Road also is still closed south of Hammond Road to Napolean Way.
The simultaneous projects — a reconstruction of Hammond Road, its intersection with Three Mile Road and the Safe Routes to School installations — have rerouted traffic as they move into the next phase.
According to a press release published by the road commission last week, crews discovered a utility conflict during the reconstruction of the intersection, delaying its expected reopening to today.
Traffic detours are still posted, although access is maintained for residents and nearby businesses. Drivers are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and expect delays.
