DANVILLE — Garfield Park, which has been completely renovated, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. on Monday.
Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. will share remarks about Garfield Park and why the city’s investments in it are necessary.
After a brief ceremony, there will be free ice cream available from Paw Paw Pete’s Ice Cream Truck until 6 p.m.
GameTime Sports is sponsoring the free frozen treats. You can also purchase ice cream as well.
The State of Illinois Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant funded $600,000 for the upgrades, which include new playground equipment, football goalposts, a shelter, and cornhole equipment.
Also, the sidewalks are ADA-accessible and loop around the park for those who want some exercise.
