TRAVERSE CITY — Cherry Republic owner Bob Sutherland is among nine appointees who will serve on the Michigan Economic Development Corp.’s Executive Committee.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced the appointments this week. Sutherland, of Maple City, is the president and owner of Cherry Republic which offers a retail line of more than 200 cherry-based products at its locations in downtown Traverse City and Glen Arbor. The graduate of Northern Michigan University is a former Leelanau County commissioner, a board member of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters and a founding member of the Great Lakes Business Network. His term will continue through April 5, 2028.
The Executive Committee provides policy direction and guidance to the MEDC on its economic development programs and initiatives, oversees the MEDC’s corporate budget and appoints the organization’s chief executive officer.
