EFFINGHAM — The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes freshman-and-sophomore boys basketball team knocked down a whopping 17 three-pointers on Wednesday in their 73-42 victory over the St. Anthony Bulldogs in the championship game of the St. Anthony Freshman/Sophomore Tournament at the Enlow Center.
T-Town led 30-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Kale Goeckner made his presence known in the opening frame, scoring 15 points and hitting four shots from beyond the arc.
Owen Lynch had five points, including one three-pointer. Blake Niemerg and Grant Tegeler had four points and Ripken Miller had two points.
Miller, Niemerg and Goeckner all scored six points in the second frame, all from three-point range. The Shoes led 53-20 at halftime.
T-Town extended its lead to 23 points at the end of the third, leading 61-38. The Shoes outscored St. Anthony 12-4 in the fourth.
Goeckner led all scorers with 24 points.
Miller and Niemerg had 11 points. Tegeler had nine points. Lynch had eight points. Sam Probst had five points and Cole Dasenbrock and Jack Weber had three points.
Curtis Tingley led the Bulldogs with 17 points.
Logan Gowin and Charlie Hoene had seven points. Andrew Wagner had three points and Charlie Bierman, Liam McAllaster, Trenton Sandschafer and Sebastian Looman had two points.
