Through employee raffles at the General Motors Lockport Operations plant, members of United Auto Workers Local 686 raised $4,930 in support of United Way of Greater Niagara. This donation, in addition to employee payroll deductions and corporate contributions, will be used to support local non-profit programs that address the needs of local youth.
United Way’s AFL/CIO labor liaison and campaign coordinator, Bill Jakobi, said the continuous support given to United Way by Local 686 and GM Component Holdings is a “great example of giving back to the community we live and work in.”
