Another banner season on the mats produced some impressive results in the Northeastern Conference.
Gloucester’s Max Thomas at 215 pounds was voted NEC Wrestler of the Year at the recent coach’s meeting. Wayne Moda, who helms the Peabody/Saugus co-op program, was selected as Coach of the Year after leading this team to both the dual meet regular season NEC crown and first place in the annual NEC/CAL postseason tournament.
Marblehead/Swampscott received the Sportsmanship Award for the 2025-26 season.
It was no surprise that Peabody/Saugus had the most All-Conference selections based on placement in the NEC/CAL tourney. Earning first-team NEC nods were Jackson Deleidi (132), Michael Maraio (150), Justin Bremberg (157), Cesar Cruz (165) and Jadec Ceac (175).
Beverly had a tremendous season and grabbed four All-Conference nods with honors earned by Ethan Skaza (106), Brayden Pouliot (113), Charlie Frost (190) and Joao Reis (285).
Gloucester had a pair of All-NEC picks in Thomas and Jayden Chadwick (120). Marblehead/Swampscott’s incredible captain Liam O’Brien was a slam dunk All-NEC choice at 138 while Salem’s Kevin Spoon (126) and Justice Bower (144) were also first teamers.
