St. Peter’s Fiesta may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep reaching for the flag — the flag of kindness, that is.
The city of Gloucester has launched a Kindness Campaign to celebrate community spirit, and those recognized for their good deeds can earn a mug that says: “Kindness is the flag we all reach for” with a depiction of a walker on Gloucester’s famous Greasy Pole reaching for the flag.
The campaign encourages residents to share meaningful acts of kindness across Gloucester now through Oct. 31.
Residents are invited to submit stories about thoughtful gestures they have witnessed or experienced, particularly those that reflect Gloucester’s long-standing tradition of neighbors helping neighbors, the city said. Stories will be shared and highlighted publicly.
“Our goal is to shine a light on the quiet, generous moments that often go unseen, but truly define who we are as a community,” Mayor Greg Verga said. “Whether it’s a helping hand, a kind word, or a supportive gesture, these stories deserve to be shared.”
The city is accepting submissions through Oct. 31, 2025.
