A resident of a third-floor apartment in a Trask Street triple-decker was alerted to a fire Friday after hearing a noise coming from a light fixture, which then fell from the ceiling on fire, fire Deputy Chief Tom LoGrande said.
Crews arrived after the fire was reported at 10:14 .m., stretched a line into the home and quickly extinguished the fire using a water fire extinguisher, which meant no water damage to the floors below.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was confined to one area and fire damage was minimal, LoGrande said. Blown-in insulation kept the fire from spreading.
Crews checked if fire had extending into the ceiling, and they did not find any.
“The guys did a good stop. Everyone did a good job,” LoGrande said.
He said the electrical inspector was checking on the upstairs unit, while the units on the first two floors were not affected.
Gloucester Fire Department Ladder 2, Engine 2 and Engine 1 responded along with the Gloucester Police Department.
