Fairfield Glade Lions Club declared their inaugural benefit concert at the end of August to be a success.
“It was a great honor to have Danny Garwood and Company in our backyard,” said Lion Marge Marola. “Danny is a talented young man; at the age of 16, he is lead guitarist and singer of his band. He has led them across the United States playing blues, as well as ’60s and ’70s rock. The band just returned from shows in Colorado, Wisconsin, Chicago, IL, and Indianapolis, IN. They have just been asked to perform at the Legendary Buddy Guy’s in Chicago this October.”
Proceeds from the concert will benefit Helping Hearts Foster Kids Closet and other charities the Lions Club sponsor in Cumberland County.
Marola said the Fairfield Glade Lions Club thanks more than 40 community businesses that donated gift certificates for door prizes that she said were well received.
She also issued a special thanks to those who purchased tickets to share with people who work with foster children in the community. This allowed for those who work for House of Hope and high school music students to attend the concert for free.
Those making those special donations were Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster, Artwork by Penny G, Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton, Chris Thomas, Farm Bureau Insurance of Fairfield Glade, Dave Kirk Chevrolet-GMC, First National Bank of Tennessee, Highland Federal Savings and Loan, Isaac Zuercher, Zurich Homes, Sandbaggers Restaurant and Timbertop Builders.
“The kindness that was shared within our community is extraordinary to say the least,” Marola said. “The kindness we have been a part of proves together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate place to call home.”
She added, “Thank you to all that had a part in our benefit concert!”
