A ghost hunting show will be shooting an episode in Lewiston this week at the site of the village’s offices and recreation facilities.
“Deathwalker,” currently producing its fifth season, follows hosts Nick Groff, his wife and psychic Tessa, and their crew to the sites of reported paranormal hauntings across the country.
The Lewiston Village Board approved the production company’s, No Sleep Entertainment LLC, request to shoot in the Red Brick Building from 7 p.m. to midnight on Thursday for an upcoming episode. Village Historian Russ Piper and Lewiston Public Library employee Amy Wall will be interviewed for it.
Village Library employee Amy Wall got involved when the Groffs did an episode for the upcoming season at the library earlier this year, so she let them know about the Red Brick building.
Another paranormal investigation group called Paranormal Oddities made their own attempt at the building last October, which Wall was involved with. During that time, she had heard footsteps in the hallway of the second floor and a child’s voice.
“I heard a little girl’s voice saying, ‘Dad, come find me,’ ” Wall said.
Village Clerk Shannon Fundis said that while she had not experienced any ghost sitings while working in the building, she had heard stories about spirits roaming the halls.
Those were not the first times this ghost-hunting show filmed in Lewiston. A season four episode that premiered last year featured the Groffs and their crew at the Frontier House, where they attempted to reach the ghost of William Morgan, a kidnapped anti-stone mason. His disappearance in 1826 led to a nationwide movement against the Freemasons.
Several other episodes of “Deathwalker” have been filmed at Western New York locations, first with a second season episode in 2022 at the old Niagara Club building on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls.
In season three, the Groffs were at the Edward Dean Adams Power Station on Buffalo Avenue trying to talk to ghosts who died when it was a hydroelectric plant. They also went to the Western Block complex in Lockport, which is now home to the ART247 gallery, attempting to communicate with deceased Erie Canal workers.
Season 4 featured episodes at the former Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, the barracks at Fort Niagara State Park, the Genesee Falls Inn near Letchworth State Park, the Rapids Theater, the Wildwood Sanitarium in Salamanca, the Dunkirk Lighthouse, The Body Shop in Buffalo, and the Hinsdale House near Olean.
Members of the “Deathwalker” production team did not respond to a request for comment.
“Deathwalker” can be viewed on Youtube and streaming services like Tubi, Peacock, Discovery Plus and Amazon Prime.
