For the second straight season, Hamilton-Wenham’s Georgia Wilson has been honored as the Cape Ann League’s Baker Division Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
Wilson won the CAL title in the long jump and also scored a ton of points of the Generals in the sprints and hurdles this winter. Also for the Generals, Charlotte Madden was league champion and a first-team all-star in the 2-mile.
For Essex Tech, Giulia Bussone was a first-team all-star in the mile while fellow Hawks Nora Kiesel (dash and 300) and Delaney Dunn (300) and the 4×200 and 4×400 relays were named CAL all-stars.
Out of Ipswich, Marty Binnette was voted CAL Baker Coach of the Year and the 4×400 relay earned all-star status.
Among the boys award winners, Hamilton-Wenham’s Ben Rich was voted Athlete of the Meet for the CAL Open after winning the mile and 2-mile as well as running a leg of the winner 4×800 relay (which was voted All-CAL). Other Generals honored as all-stars were Clark Glidden (1000) and Cole Regan (mile).
Essex Tech had Makaio Bay (dash) and the 4×200 and 4×800 relays named CAL all-stars.
The boys Kinney Athletes of the Year were Kyle Lisauskas (Newburyport) and Kieran Miller (North Reading) while Joe Colbert of Triton was Coach of the Year. Eli Mendese of Lynnfield was Baker Athlete of the Year and Ernie Bissaillon of Amesbury was Coach of the Year. Sportsmanship awards went to Triton, Ipswich and Manchester Essex.
Other major award winners on the girls side were Giuliana Ligor of North Reading (Kinney Athlete of the Year, CAL Open Athlete of the Meet) and Brian Moore of Newburyport (Coach of the Year) with sportsmanship awards for North Reading, Triton and Manchester Essex.
