KEYSER, W.Va. — Garrett County Post 71/208/214 bounced back from its first loss of the summer with a 5-1 win over Potomac Valley Post 64 on Friday.
Landon Yoder tossed a gem to keep the Potomac Valley bats quiet, going into the seventh inning to pick up the victory. The right-hander allowed a run on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk in 6 2/3 frames.
Jake Chambers gave Garrett (6-1) an early lead, blasting a two-run home run in the first inning. Garrett added two runs in the third inning and an insurance run in the seventh.
Reece Tasker added two singles for Garrett, and Ryan Bird drove in a run with a single.
Oliver Crites paced Potomac Valley with an RBI double in the fifth. Landon Tysinger was dealt the loss on the bump.
Garrett (2-0 Mountain District) takes on Fort Cumberland Post 13 (0-2 District) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Memorial Field.
Potomac Valley (2-9) is at Winchester Post 21 at Sherando High on Monday at 7 p.m.
