ATKINSON — Join the Atkinson Garden Club for a few relaxing hours, where your love of flowers and floral design meets the sweet art and craft of cake decorating. You will transform frosting into floral masterpieces.
This hands-on workshop will be taught by Garden Club members James and Kathleen Clarke, who in addition to operating flower shops for over 40 years, created exquisite wedding and other celebratory cakes for their clients.
Subjects covered include the proper frosting consistency for creating flowers and decorative borders, proper use of icing bags, and choosing the best piping tips for your own designs.
Jim and Kathy will ice and decorate a cake as part of this workshop, and demonstrate how to avoid all those bothersome cake crumbs.
Participants will practice techniques on their own sample boards and cupcakes. You will also learn how to decorate your cakes and cupcakes using fresh flowers. No prior cake decorating experience required.
The workshop takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St.
All materials will be provided by the Atkinson Garden Club. Following the class, if interested you will be able to purchase decorating tools or kits you have used during the workshop.
RSVP to Estelle by Friday, June 20 at 603-770-5022 or eahalchak@yahoo.com, via phone, text or email so that they can plan for the proper amount of frosting, piping bags and other tools, and most importantly — cupcakes.
If for any reason you cannot respond by June 20, call Estelle and come as an observer.
