NEW RICHLAND — A GoFundMe effort is underway for the family of a New Richland farmer who died while on vacation in Mexico.
Brent Possin, 50, and his wife, Lianne, were vacationing just outside of Cancun when he had a medical emergency at breakfast that sent him into cardiac arrest.
Patrons of the restaurant were able to revive him several times to allow time for the EMT’s to come from the hospital, which was 40 minutes away.
Possin was brought by ambulance to the nearest hospital, where he went into an intensive care unit. The GoFundMe page said the family had to pay tens of thousands of dollars up front. More payments were needed as his care continued. The GoFundMe page said the hospital and staff provided high quality care to him.
On Friday Possin died. It was determined that he’d had a brain aneurysm or brain bleed, according to the GoFundMe page.
As of Monday the GoFundMe account had raised more than $52,000 toward a $100,000 goal.
