SANTIAGO, Chile — Frostburg State graduate Zach Shattuck captured a bronze medal in the men’s 50m Butterfly on Friday at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games with a time of 33.67.
Shattuck competed in the S6 classification, which includes people with a short stature, major limb impairment or loss in two limbs. This includes people with cerebral palsy, people with dwarfism and amputees.
A native of Mount Airy and a South Carroll High School graduate, Shattuck swam four years at Frostburg State. He previously finished eighth in the 200-meter individual medley at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo and was a bronze medalist in the 2017 World Championships in the 4×100-meter medley.
