FROSTBURG — Frostburg State baseball is on a roll, winning 11 of its last 12 games.
The Bobcats (23-8) received votes in the latest Division II coaches poll and have won four in a row after defeating Shepherd 6-3 on Wednesday at Bob Wells Field.
Nik Rubendall, a Potomac State standout who hit .344 in his two-year Catamount career, hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning that put the Rams (16-17) on the board.
Frostburg out-hit Shepherd 10-3 with seven Bobcats recording at least one.
Jackson Schlalick, Manny Hall and Mikey Guy each recorded two hits with Guy adding a pair of RBI.
Joe Pippin earned the win, throwing six innings and only allowing two hits for Frostburg.
The Rams used six pitchers who combined for 10 hits, five earned runs and eight walks with five strikeouts.
The Bobcats host Wheeling for a four-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Garrett sweeps Allegheny County
McHENRY — Garrett College extended its win streak to three games with a sweep over Allegheny County on Wednesday.
The Lakers (25-8, 19-7 NJCAA Region 20) won game one 13-3 and game two 6-3.
In game two, Parker Ferraro (Mountain Ridge) hit a home run and finished with two RBI.
Angel Oquendo led Garrett with a pair of hits and a pair of RBI.
Dale Boone earned the win in 6 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.
In game one, Oquendo led the Lakers going 4 for 5 with an RBI.
Josef Sneathen (Allegany) finished 3 for 4 with two RBI.
Noah Broadwater (Keyser) and JJ Charlton (Hampshire) each recorded a hit and an RBI and combined for three stolen bases.
Conner Blake got the win throwing six innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and two walks with three punch outs.
Garrett is keeping pace for the Region 20, Division II West Region with Frederick (29-5, 20-4 Region 20) who is ranked No. 7 nationally.
