FROSTBURG — Former Frostburg State defensive tackle Niles Scott is set to play in the 2025 United Football League (UFL) Championship on Saturday.
The UFL is a developmental league meant to provide opportunities for players looking to earn an opportunity in the NFL.
Scott has started every game for the XFL conference champion DC Defenders, recording 16 tackles with one for loss, adding half a sack, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
Last season, Scott started seven of the 10 games and posted 28 tackles and nine quarterback pressures.
The Defenders went 6-4 in the 2025 regular season before defeating the St. Louis Battlehawks 36-18 last Sunday to advance to the UFL title game for the first time.
Scott spent four seasons at Frostburg from 2014 to 2017 and finished with 150 tackles including 43 for loss and 25.5 sacks.
Scott is fifth in program history for sacks and tied for ninth in tackles for loss.
He led the Bobcats to two double-digit win seasons, a 2016 NJAC championship and a 2017 NCAA playoff appearance.
Scott joined the San Francisco 49ers as a undrafted free agent in 2018 and spent time with eight other NFL teams.
His only regular season appearance came in 2018 where he recorded six tackles for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The UFL Championship Game is on Saturday at 8 p.m. and will be televised on ABC and streamed on the ESPN app.
